

Yordan Yovkov Secondary School is set up in 1957. Its first school year begins with 22 classes. At first different school degrees study at different existing school buildings – nursery classes are held at Culture and traditions building, primary classes study at the Vocational Particular Metal Knowledge School and the upper classes study then at the Hristo Botev Comprehensive School.
In 1959 the whole school moves to its new- constructed building in Republikanska Street. Highly qualified staff begins its ambitious work, based on old traditions and looking hopefully ahead to future.
The school has been educational, cultural and intellectual core for over 50 years yet and is one of the most respectable schools in the town of Kardzhali. Only Yordan Yovkov Secondary School in the region has established relationships with Wisdom College – London, which are based on undersigned contract. This allows the school to teach students using new methodology what includes teaching students in team work; project making; using interactive techniques when learning and developing educational progress. The school staff works in close contribution with some lecturers from UNWE –University of National and World Economy. Yordan Yovkov Secondary School is a member of Help Association and it’s the only owner of the license taken out from National APOO, Council of Ministries of Republic of Bulgaria

Different achievements, some of them gained collectively, some of them individually, in every area of education are recorded during the years at Yordan Yovkov Secondary School
There are 550 students at the moment at Yordan Yovkov Secondary School, in 25 classes. All the students are learning foreign languages and they have the chance to choose between English, French, German and Russian.
During their vocational studies the students learn economy different subjects.
After graduating from Yordan Yovkov Secondary School its students get the opportunity to continue their education in universities and colleges. They all become active citizens of Bulgaria with self-esteem and enough confidence to be citizens of the world.
