
NurginMehmed -11 th A grade,Mezhla Hassan – 11th B grade, Gergana Nacheva – 12th A gradeand Dzheylyan Kodzhabash –12th B grade from the Secondary School Jordan Yovkov Kardjali returned from Sofia, where theyparticipated in an initiative “Manager for a Day “.The initiative of Junior Achievement Bulgaria, conducted forthetenthyear under the patronage of the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Bulgaria and the U.S. Embassy.
From28.03 to 30.03.2011, the participants from our school visited the U.S. Embassy in Sofia, where Deputy Ambassador Susan Sutton opened the conference, Smart Start Embassy Orientation - "Jumpstart “and congratulated the young people from around the country who do not put limits to their capabilities and development, and are not afraid to express their wildest ideas and innovative spirit. She stressed that building a career requires perseverance, loyalty, high levels of competence and pattern of behavior that is consistent with the fundamental business principles. Susan Sutton appreciates talents of people, innovation, adaptation skills, willingness to learn. She supports curious, dynamic, flexible people who are keen to develop, share and seek knowledge. The large firms participating in the initiative "Manager for a Day" and "Jumpstart" trust tothe young and ambitious people having developed value systemand support them.Ken Moskowitz - Counsellor for Public Affairs at the American Embassy and Milena Stoycheva - CEO of Junior Achievement Bulgaria shared their thoughts and ideas of young people worldwide and particularly in Bulgaria. They saidthat studentsin Bulgaria should have more self-confidence ,shoulddetermine their future and know that training and work can be fun.
Withoratorical skills and motivational speech MacArthur Antigua, Founder of Massive Creativity, attracted students attention and became their favourite speaker.
During the Conferences held in the Sheraton Hotel Nurgin Mehmed, Mezhla Hassan, Gergana Nacheva, Dzheylyan Kodzhabash and their leaders Mrs N. Kyupryudzhieva - Principalof the school and Mrs Hr. Vancheva, teacher of economics,took part in workshops led by experienced managers and discussedreal cases in various industries. Theywent through training and presentations devoted to the preparation of CV, cover letter, presentation skills, establishing business contacts, creativity, business ethics, and
environmental care and establishing a business in Bulgaria. Theymet with young contractors-Boyan Bonev, Georgi Dichev, Alexandra Bizerova and Ivaylo Hristov, who gave them useful practical advice.During themeeting at the American Center,Kim Atkansan - Vice Consul U.S. Embassy, toldthemhow to make a career in public administration. Diana Dimitrovafrom Association "Here - There" toldabout his work in the private sector. Our students learned about the benefits of volunteering from Phil Rudy - Director of Programs and Training Peace Corps - Bulgaria.
During the three days of the initiative "Manager for a Day" our students werevery busy, but theywere able to walk around Sofia and they could see closely the National Assembly, Council of Ministers, the Presidency of the Republic of Bulgaria and other sights of the town .They met Yordanka Fandakova- Mayor of Sofia ,Gena Traikova-a journalist in btv . And they made a lot ofnew friends.
